TOMRA Cleanaway is proud to announce the opening of a new Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) at Bayview Central Curlewis, located at 90 Centennial Blvd, Curlewis. This state-of-the-art machine will make recycling more accessible for local residents, providing an efficient and rewarding way to recycle eligible drink containers as part of CDS Vic scheme.
The RVM, conveniently located at the vibrant Bayview Central shopping precinct, is a significant step in supporting Curlewis’ sustainability goals. It accepts eligible drink containers, including plastic, glass, and cans, and offers refunds via digital payment, retail vouchers, or the option to donate to local charities.
CDS Vic gives charities, community groups, schools, and sporting groups new ways to fundraise by registering as a Donation Partner.
As of 09 January 2025, over 1,100 charities, community groups, and organisations have registered as CDS Vic Donation Partners with TOMRA Cleanaway in the West Zone of CDS Vic and are embracing the opportunity to use the CDS Vic West Zone app as a fundraising tool.
Bellarine residents can download the CDS Vic West Zone app to check on the live status of their local refund point, verify container eligibility, and manage and track container refunds. The CDS Vic West Zone app also allows customers the unique opportunity to donate their container refund to many charities that have joined as charity partners for Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme.

James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, highlighted the importance of this launch in empowering local communities to take part in sustainable initiatives:
“Recycling should be simple and accessible for everyone, and this new RVM in Curlewis reflects our commitment to making that a reality. By providing convenient solutions, we hope to inspire more people to embrace recycling and contribute to a cleaner, greener future. We’re excited to see the positive impact this machine will have on the Bellarine community.”
The initiative has also been welcomed by local representatives. Member for Bellarine Alison Marchant praised the new RVM as a valuable resource for the community:
“This is a fantastic addition to the Bellarine, providing further opportunities for the community to get involved in this great initiative.”
“I am very proud of the Bellarine community for their involvement in this new recycling opportunity throughout 2024, with many local groups and sporting clubs utilising the scheme to raise funds for their organisation while learning about the importance of recycling and supporting the environment. I encourage everyone in Curlewis to get involved and make use of this great resource.”
The Victorian Government is driving recycling efforts across the state, and the new RVM is an important part of these efforts. Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos emphasised the broader impact of these machines:
“Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme is a game-changer in how we recycle, and the rollout of these Reverse Vending Machines is key to its success. This new machine in Curlewis makes it easier than ever for the community to participate, turning waste into opportunity while supporting local charities and reducing landfill. Together, we’re making recycling part of everyday life.”
