NEW BRIDGE LINKS OCEAN GROVE GOLF

Ocean Grove golfers can look forward to smoother fairway connections with the completion of a new pedestrian bridge at the local course, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Bellarine Alison Marchant today officially unveiled the new bridge at the popular seaside club, made possible by a government investment of $38,000 from the Labor Government’s Golf Infrastructure Fund.

With golf in full swing across the state, the new bridge replaces old wooden decking with a secure concrete structure that links the club’s middle fairways and make it easier for locals of all abilities to access both sides of the course whether as a player or spectator.

It will also provide more opportunity for the 345 strong club to encourage more people to get involved in golf, build on memberships, and host more development programs and tournaments.

Ocean Grove Golf Club is one of 18 golf infrastructure projects to receive support from Fund, including upgrades at Eildon Golf Club, Moe Golf Club and Hepburn Springs Golf Club. 

Golf in Victoria generates $883 million to the state’s economy and supports 6,900 jobs.

The Victorian Budget 2023/24 is providing more than $213 million to deliver and improve community sports infrastructure and support initiatives that boost participation and inclusion in local sports clubs and organisations.

This brings the Government’s investment into community sport and recreation infrastructure to more than $1.9 billion since 2014.

The Ocean Grove Golf Club also contributed to this project.
