More Than 100 Jobs Up for Grabs at Nyaal Banyul

30 March 2026

Labor is investing in regional Victoria to help create more local jobs close to home.

Minister Dimopoulos announced more than 100 new jobs are open at the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre – ahead of the venue’s July 2026 opening.

The $450 million state-of-the-art venue is building a local workforce to deliver world-class service across events and hospitality functions at the Centre.

The recruitment drive includes opportunities for AV technicians, logistics operators, event setup attendants, and customer service professionals.

More than 50 hospitality positions are also currently available, including chefs, stewards, and food and beverage attendants.

This marks Nyaal Banyul’s first large-scale hire of casual team members, complementing its growing base of ongoing employees, with a total of 41 permanent roles and 200 casual positions once operational.

Successful applicants will begin by supporting test events and operational trials in the lead‑up to the official opening.

Over 50 events are already booked in at the new Geelong facility.

Nyaal Banyul features 3700 square metres of flexible event space, a 1000-seat theatre, cutting-edge AV technology, and is part of a new precinct expected to create hundreds of jobs across hospitality, tourism, events, and services, while boosting visitation to the region.

Nyaal Banyul is being delivered as a partnership by Development Victoria and the Plenary Conventions consortium and will be operated by the Victorian Convention and Event Trust.

The project is funded through the Geelong City Deal, a $676 million investment from the Australian Government, Victorian Government and City of Greater Geelong to revitalise Geelong through critical infrastructure.
