Parks Victoria have today released the Consultation Summary Report for the St Leonards Local Port Area Plan, capturing feedback from nearly 800 community members.
The report highlights the feedback from the community during the consultation process, which ran from early March to late April 2024. Consultation was extended by three weeks to ensure everyone in the community could have their say.
Community consultation and feedback on the St Leonards Local Port Area Plan has been essential in planning for the future of the maritime precinct and pier.
Key themes from the feedback include a strong desire to preserve the current character of the pier and support for recreational activities such as walking, swimming, and fishing.
Additionally, there were concerns about environmental protection, which will be carefully considered in the next stages of planning.
Parks Victoria will incorporate feedback into the development process. Further investigations, including assessments of maritime heritage and environmental values, are underway to refine design options that align with community priorities.
More information will be presented in the coming months, and residents will be kept informed of progress.
